There is something exciting about a fresh start to another year. Maybe it’s because it hasn’t yet been tainted with all the stresses of the year before, maybe it’s because it hasn’t yet revealed the challenges & opportunities it will hold. We are weeks away from an entirely new year, filled with the potential to present the most blissful & transformative days of your entire existence. It’s the time to make New Year’s resolutions as another 365 days vastly approaches…
Don’t lie to yourself—you are going to make one, if not 10, New Year’s resolutions. You know, those routine promises people often make to themselves. The list of things they won’t stand for & improvements they want to make as they try to be a better person…starting next year. But what about trying to be better right now???
The truth is, when the glitz and glamour of December 31st are over, and the clock strikes midnight, you will be exactly who you were in the moments before. Just like the saying, “Wherever you go, there you are”. The secret is this… that elusive, magical life starts by starting, now! I’m not here to tell you that you will fail if you make resolutions.
I am here to tell you that you owe it to yourself to make full use of this NOW, begin to bring your vision into reality, today!
I’ve often wondered why so many people decide to make serious plans & changes, but wait to act upon them until the start of a new year. Why do all that when you can begin taking the necessary steps toward changes you want to see & make wayyyy before then? Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with making New Year’s resolutions, but there is NO reason why you can’t start making a difference in your life right away.
Please , please do not get up on January 1st & get a gym membership. Chances are, if fitness is your goal, it has been for a while; either you’ve already been working towards it, or you’ve been waiting to begin…If you’ve been waiting to begin, starting on January 1st is like starting a diet on Thanksgiving! It DOES NOT work!
Why not use this month (NOW) as an opportunity to set yourself up for success? I am not criticizing you from making the bold decision to change, that’s a noble & commendable action to take. However, I am trying to prevent you from making this new year another mundane & monotonous year. I am guiding you from withholding your talent & hiding your best self from the world!
My intention is to deliver you the tough-love message that you’ve needed all along…
Whatever you are waiting to begin, do it now!
Otherwise, give up on it entirely & stop burdening your mind with the pain of another year of failure because of unrealistic goals. If you are committed to transforming your life, you will start this instant. If you’re not, you NEVER will. Use this as your sign to begin!
Although the new year is right around the corner, it’s not promised to you. Honestly, the next day is not promised to you, & you don’t want to leave the world only having made plans to do things differently, but never acting upon them. So many times people simply plan to do things but never get the chance to act upon them. Don’t let this be you!
Get started on your changes as soon as possible is because you want to start implementing new patterns & habits. Start dropping old ones now so you’ll already have a new routine. Old habits are hard to let go of & if you start getting them into practice little by little on a daily basis before the new year, then a major transition will be smooth & easier for you to keep up with.
Don’t use New Years as an excuse to procrastinate, to start something new, chances are you’ll do the same things that didn’t work for you last year. If you’re serious about making certain changes or starting new adventures, then you should be eager to move forward & start right where you are.
Continue to make yearly goals because they are important. Make 5-year, 10-year goals. They are not meant to limit you, they are meant to fuel you with a vision worth striving for.
Without a vision, you will wander through life aimlessly letting your old patterns & beliefs direct your direction, fallen from its purpose, calling it fate. What truly separates the goal-achievers from the wishful-thinkers, are the monthly, weekly, and DAILY goals that they work tirelessly to achieve.
Once you’ve made plans & start the hard work, you’re eager & excited to see the final results. On the other side of the spectrum, if you’re putting off putting those plans into action, then you’re only pushing yourself further away from where you want & need to be.
Here are some positive resolutions you can use right NOW that will help you implement your goals:
1. Be Here Now
OK so let’s start with one that you’ve already achieved. You are already here now! Congrats!!!
Many of us allow our minds wander off… a lot, so there’s a need for most people to practice bringing themselves into the moment. It’s not really hard because you are ALWAYS here now. The moment you notice that you’ve wandered off you’ve already returned your attention to the present moment!
That noticing IS your awareness & your awareness lives in the present moment. Start noticing when you become more aware of how often your mind drifts away from the present moment.
2. Challenge Core Beliefs
Core beliefs are part of what our subconscious mind believes about ourselves. Core beliefs include lack of self love, acceptance, abandonment, fears, trauma & many others. The center of core beliefs is the idea that “you are not good enough.” When people believe that they are not good enough, then they need validation, they seek acceptance from outside themselves such through expensive clothing, money, fame, addiction & other things to mask the deep issue.
Many, many New Year’s resolutions end up being at this point. Someone may resolve to lose weight, but they’re not doing it to be healthy. They’re doing it to be attractive so that other people will like them. This is just another way to hide the core belief of lack of self-love & the feeling that “you are not good enough.” It’s not surprising that this resolution may not be followed through upon & the possibility that the core belief will rear its ugly head in yet another way.
One of the best ways to bring your core beliefs into consciousness is journaling or automatic writing about your deeper issues. This allows your subconscious to speak to you. Notice what they are & how you react to them. Learning to respond instead of react starts with awareness. Become aware of what you’re not aware of. This is when the true transformation begins!
3. Let It Go
We all do the best we can from what we know at the time. To punish ourselves for things that happened 30 minutes ago or 30 years ago only harms us, in SO many ways. People hold onto many things they no longer need to hold on to. Things that were resolved (& still punishing themselves for) or things that can be resolved. Right NOW let go of at least ONE thing. One thing you can resolve right NOW so you can let go of & move on. It can be anything from a relationship or substance (like drugs or alcohol) to a thought about yourself. So much energy is wasted on the things we can let go of. The only way to get your energy back is to let it go!
Did you know it takes more energy to fuel a lower vibration than a higher one? A lower vibration is heavier & more dense, therefor requires a lot more energy. So feeling good takes less energy that feeling bad!
4. Raise Your Vibration
Have you ever wondered why when you see someone laughing it becomes contagious? Have you ever laughed so hard because someone was laughing uncontrollably & yet you had NO idea what you were laughing at? Laughing is an act that raises your vibration. This is why it’s claimed that laughter is the best medicine. Because it is! Whenever you experience something really bad & feel really crappy, look for the funny side of it (there is ALWAYS the opposite within it). No matter how bad you feel, how terrible the pain your experiencing is, you can ALWAYS flip the switch & turn it into the opposite… pleasure! You just need to look at it’s opposite. The Law of Polarity states that everything that exists has an equal & exact opposite. For ANYTHING to exist, there has to be an equal & exact opposite. For example, you cannot experience sadness without having an idea about happiness!
5. Enjoy the Silence
When in doubt, when things begin to frustrate you, bring yourself into the moment & just BE. Be silent, Be one with all that is, Be quiet & listen to your inner voice. Listen for the guidance. Drop into the space of silent presence that is already here. Welcome & allow it. When you find a place that “feels” heavy, notice that resistance. Sit with it, become aware of it but don’t feed into it. Just BE & do nothing else until you become simply silence itself that is all that is in this world.
Right NOW you can transform yourself, start by holding yourself accountable to:
Engage With Others. REALLY engage, the people around you are a reflection of yourself. If there is something you don’t like about them, that’s the defect you don’t like about yourself.
Be Kind. Kindness is free & it raises your vibration. Like attracts like. Make kindness contagious! What you give out you receive.
Forgiveness. Forgive yourself. When you forgive yourself it becomes easier to forgive others. Nothing is so bad that you can not forgive yourself for. Look at the end result of that action. What did you learn? How have you changed since then? Where are you now because of that experience? You are not the same person you were yesterday, let it go!
Every day you wake up, you have another chance to start fresh & you should make every day count. Start now & go into 2018 already in motion. You’ll be surprised at the results.
